Class Experience

Students will be given a worksheet that will help them understand the process of multiplying fractions. This is a foundation level course that will help beginners become more confident working with fractions as they are able to work their way up with more complex fractions. In class, students will be actively engaged and questioned what they know about basic fractions, multiplication facts, and basic division to reduce fractions as they are guided through a powerpoint presentation. Learners will need to know how to add, subtract, and multiply multi-digit numbers and be able to do basic division to be confident in taking this course. Students that have taken my previous lesson in adding and subtracting fractions with mixed numbers will find this class as a natural progression from that lesson. This lesson is part 8 in a 9 part fraction series. The suggested flow of the series is as follows:
1. Finding the Least Common Multiple
2. Creating Factor Trees: Breaking It Down
3. What Is The Same? Finding Equivalent Fractions
4. Adding and Subtracting Fractions With Like Denominators
5. Simplifying Fractions: Down To Basic
6. Addition and Subtraction Fractions With Unlike Denominators
7. All Mixed Up! Add and Subtract Fractions with Mixed Numbers
8. Multiplying Fractions for Beginners
9. Dividing Fractions for Beginners

Supply List

A worksheet that guides students through the lesson will be provided. I suggest making a notebook for this series so students are able to refer back to their notes if needed.

My name is Kasi. I’m a mom of two boys ages 7 and 5 and I’m a teacher. I have been teaching for 10 years. I have taught ages 5 to 17 and I’m highly qualified to teach English and Math. I currently teach English as a Second Language to students in China as a VIPKID teacher and I absolutely love it! I love the connection I have with students over video chat.
