Is your child struggling to memorize their multiplication facts? Do you dread working on homework with multiplication? I'm here to help! Each week, we will do different skills to practice their facts that are not boring. We will LEARN how to multiply not only with the algorithm but through pictorial models, repeated addition, and many different strategies to help make the concepts concrete in their mind. By the time we complete our class, your child should be able to "teach" you what they learned and put their learning into action. They will be given practice pages and games that they can play during the week until our next class. I will also input them into my online math program to help them practice skills at home. Week 1: - Multiplication Foundational Skills - Repeated Addition, Arrays, and Multiplication Facts for 0, 1, and 2. Week 2: - Multiplication Facts 3, 4, 5, and 6. Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Texas A&M Commerce
Hello, my name is Shannon Elder. I am a teacher in Texas. I have taught for 13 years and it is my passion. I am certified to teach ages from pre-k to 6th grade. I have taught: 6th, 5th, 3rd, and 2nd grade. I am also certified with ESL (English as a Second Language), Special Education, Gifted and Talented. I have my Masters in Educational Leadership. I became a teacher because I struggled a lot in school. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in late elementary school. I promised myself I would become a teacher to help all of the kids that struggle like I did. I understand kids with lack of focus, low motivation, or just struggling all together. I know how to get kids excited about school and learning. I am going to open up reading, phonics, and math tutoring. During the summer, I will be adding in a summer book club.
