Movement Academy: Intro to Ballet

In this once-a-week course, we will practice and learn the fundamental movements of beginning ballet techniques. This beginning level class is designed to develop an awareness of alignment and basic ballet vocabulary through barre practices while using a mix of classical ballet accompaniments and instrumental variations of popular hit songs for a dose of fun! Through a progressively structured curriculum, dancers will build focus and concentration while creating muscle memory and practicing proper classroom manners.

This class is designed as a follow-along for those that have less than one year of experience or need a good refresher! It will serve as a great fit for those who aspire to improve their dancing!

We will cover the following over four weeks:
• Posture and Alignment
• Port de Bras
• Proper Turnout
• Foot Positions: first, second, and third
• Plie, Tendu, Dégagé, Ronde de Jambe, Battement Développé, Grand Battement, Relevé, Retire, Passé, Sauté
• Ballet Combination
• History of Ballet

Each class will consist of:
• Introduction/Warm-Up
• Barre
• Stretching
• Center Floorwork
• Reverence
