*** Please read to see what topics will be covered each day *** We have all heard to the Summer Slide, so what can we do about it? This 5-day class goes over various topics and provides learners the practice they need to prepare for the upcoming school year. Each class will cover topics that will help your child build their foundation of basic math concepts. This class runs Monday through Friday. At the end of the week, there will be a review game to test the learners' understanding of topics covered. For each class, there will be mini-lessons on the review concepts and then either individual or group practice depending on the number of students. Additional help may be provided, but this camp will not serve to cover a topic in its entirety. The following is the outline for each day of the class: 🔴Monday- Basic Place Value Number Sense | Basics of Rounding Up and Down We will use our number sense to practice place value and rounding. Using manipulatives such as counter, base 10 blocks and pictures we will explore numbers. 🟠Tuesday- Skip Counting and Finding Patterns | Comparing Numbers and Estimating Using what we know about numbers, we will play around with the hundred chart. Then we will discuss greater than, less than and equal to. 🟡Wednesday- Addition and Subtraction Word Problems (Sums up to 50) | Basic Fractions We will use what we know about addition and subtraction to solve word problems. Introduction to basic fractions and how to break apart a whole. 🟢Thursday- Intro to Money USD | Basic Measurement- Length Review of coins and the value of money. We will practice counting totals of coins. Students will practice measuring objects using different objects. 🔵Friday- Putting it All Together | Review Game We will review addition, subtraction, measurement and money through problem solving. Then we will play a review game to review all of the concepts we practiced throughout the week. Additional practice pages and resources will be available in the classroom during the week.

As always, please supervise your child while they are on the computer or using outside websites.
Supply List
Learners will need the following during the week: - Paper/Pencil or whiteboard/marker - Ruler with inches - Money-bills and coins (a handout will also be posted for students to print out "fake money")

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
