What's included

8 live meetings
4 in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be encouraged to practice what we are learning in between classes and there may be problems given to solve or a recommended game to play with others in between meeting times, however assigned homework will be minimal.
Assessment
Student progress will be assessed through their participation and final activities.

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 4
Beginner Level
Students will play games such as math dice, multiplication bingo, magic squares and 24, as well as learn how to solve and make your own Sudoku. We will focus on the multiplication tables but will practice all four processes, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

In addition to learning through fun activities, we will practice writing out and solving longer multiplication problems and work on strengthening our knowledge of the multiplication tables from 1 to 12, and finding patterns within them.

Each class will begin with warm up activities and games followed by some written practice and ending once again with a variety of more math games. Incorporating movement in the learning of math, which we will sometimes do when practicing times tables, can help a child master number sense in a deeper way and requires the higher centers of the brain to be involved in learning.

This class should be fun and engaging while helping students to build a solid foundation and working knowledge of numbers and the multiplication tables.
Learning Goals
Ability to think through the 1-12 times tables with ease and familiarity, and to learn to relax and have fun when practicing math.
