Each week, this class will introduce a math concept (counting, addition, subtraction, patterns) for early learners to engage with using materials from found around the house!
Class experience
This class will have young learners practicing basic math concepts using items from the home. Class will begin with a greeting, a quick introduction to the concept, and then time for children to practice independently or as a group to truly grasp the concept. I love for math to be hands on, so we often use materials to count, sort, add, etc. Learning should be fun, so I incorporate games, movement and learner participation. Each class may require different things, but they are designed to be flexible so that a variety of objects can be used for the classes. Paper and something to write with can be helpful in each class for those that enjoy practicing writing numbers. A set of numbers (cards, puzzle pieces, etc.) can be useful to show an answer, etc.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Grown ups should be nearby to assist with any technical problem or other that may arise. Most activities, learners should be able to do independently.
