This one time summer themed class will challenge students to solve a variety of math problems, using an escape room format. Students will work together to find the answer to the riddle and stop Barney Bully. They must find all of the clues and decode the riddle in 30 minutes. Math problems are at fifth and sixth grade level and involve a variety of concepts, including all four math operations, volume, area, perimeter, fractions, decimals, and order of operations. Students will be encouraged to interact with peers to solve the problems; teacher will ask guiding questions and offer possible strategies if the group is stuck.
