The Math Counts Class with Ms. Sabrina is focusing on using different manipulatives for the children to get a better understanding on how to count and connecting the numerals to their quantities. The class will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30pm- 3:00pm. This class is for children 3 to 5 years old. We will incorporate hands on participation so the children can be entertained as well as learn! For example, we will count out loud all together from 1-10 in English and learn how to count in Spanish. Have quantity matching worksheets that have the basic concept of the numbers 1-10,10-20,30-40,40-50.The children will be able to gain knowledge on number recognition, as well as being able to spell and write the numbers. The children will be able to watch videos for the numbers that we work on each week. I will also have cut out manipulatives such as 1 white diamond, 2 green triangles, 3 blue squares, 4 purple circles, and 5 red hearts. I will hold up the cut-out shape manipulatives and have the children call out the number of manipulatives that I am holding up in my hand as well as the shape and color. I will send out all the worksheets that the children will need 1-2 days before the class, so the children will have their worksheets the day of the class.
Learning Goals
The children will be able to demonstrate fine- motor strength and coordination by using their fingers and hands to pick up manipulatives to count and using writing and drawing tools for their worksheets. The children will be able to listen to increasingly complex language by following directions, gain knowledge on how to use number concepts as far as counting and connecting numerals with their quantities.Other Details

Hello, my name is Sabrina Sutton. I Graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 2011 and went to Towson University for two years majoring in Early Childhood Education. I have been working with children for about 10 years now from ages 2-10 years old, and I enjoy every moment of it! I am currently on level 4 for the MSDE credentialing program. I have my 45 clock hours for Infant/Toddlers development, 90+9 clock hour certification, and I also have my 45-clock hour for school age childcare curriculum. I am passionate about teaching Reading, Math, Art, Cooking, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). I am interested in teaching children from 2-3 years old and children between the ages of 7-10 years old. I love to have the children participate as much as possible whether it is with having group discussions, one on one learning, and hands on experience. I feel like the more you have the children participate and be a part of the lesson the more knowledge they can gain from the lesson.
