Class Experience

Beginner Level
Welcome to our phonics class, where we focus on building essential reading skills through engaging and interactive methods. Here’s a comprehensive overview of what you can expect from our classes:

In our phonics class, we will primarily focus on mastering the short vowel sounds, starting with the short vowel 'Aa'. Our goal is to help students recognize, pronounce, and use the /a/ sound in various words.

This 30-minute class is structured using the 3-period lesson approach:

Introduction: In this period, a child is introduced to the letter by making a phonetic sound. The letter sound will be pronounced several times to help the child grasp the sound of the letter.

Association/Recognition: In this period, the child will be actively engaged in a process. The teacher will use different phrases to facilitate the response to the question like "What letter sound is on my head?" or "Can you put letter Aa on your chair?" This activity will help them understand the relationship of the letter name and its sound.

Recall: Students recall and pronounce words that begin with the /a/ sound. This phase involves guided practice with sorting, matching, and interactive worksheets.

My teaching style is interactive and student-centered. I believe in making learning fun and effective by incorporating games, songs, and visual aids that hold students' attention. I use a positive and encouraging approach to build confidence and motivate students to participate actively.

Overall, the class is designed to be dynamic and interactive, ensuring that each student is actively involved in their learning process.

Parental Guidance
As your child participates in activities involving body movements, please ensure the area where your child will be moving is clear of obstacles and has a soft surface (like a carpet or mat) to prevent injuries. For play dough activity, use non-toxic, child-safe play dough. If making homemade play dough, follow trusted recipes and ensure all ingredients are safe for children. You may set up a designated play area with a mat or tablecloth to make clean-up easier and contain any mess.
Supply List
Please have your child bring a play dough, pencil, crayons, dry erase marker, and a whiteboard or blank paper. These materials will be essential for our activities and exercises. Additionally, a printable worksheet will be posted in the classroom, which your child will use during the lesson.
