US Grade 2 - 4
Over the course of 2 weeks, your child will fill their toolbox with useful and fun multiplication skills! We will cover a group of multiplication facts in each class. We will use manipulatives, pictures, story problems and real-life simulations to demonstrate the "why" behind multiplication. While building number sense and learning to understand multiplication, we will also begin memorizing these facts. This class will include discussion, slides, and active participation. We will play games where students can experience math first hand. My teaching style is upbeat and exciting. Student interaction and lively activities keep our classes engaging and fun. It's my teaching philosophy that memorization of math facts is futile unless students understand WHY these numbers work together and what they mean. This is called number sense! Our classes are laid out as follows: Day 1: Multiplying by 0, 1, 2 (the basics + multiplication chart) Day 2: Multiplying by 10 (seeing patterns) Day three: Multiplying by 5 (patterns continued) Day four: Multiplying by 4 (double the double) Day five: Multiplying by 3 (tripling & number sense) Day six: Multiplying by 9 & 11 (review last week + 2 fun tricks) Day seven: Multiplying by 6 & 8 (combining products) Day eight: Multiplying by 7 (combining products, continued) Day nine: Multiplying by 12 (combining products for number sense) Day ten: Review, Practice & Celebrate! (bringing it all together!)
Learning Goals
Students will be able to multiply by 0-12 and begin memorizing the basic multiplication facts!

Parental Guidance
This course is designed for students who are familiar with addition. Perhaps your child has been introduced to multiplication and it didn’t “click” or they just need extra practice. We will discuss the basics of multiplication and lots if different tricks, strategies and memorization skills.
