Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Hello young scientists! In this 2 day class we will find out what happens to marshmallow peeps when they are placed in three different liquids. Learners are invited to come to class to watch the experiment, or they can bring the materials to do the experiment along with me.

During our first class we will observe the marshmallow peeps and prepare our bowls for the experiment. Learners will record their predictions by drawing and/or writing. After class the bowls will need to be kept in a safe place until our next class together.

During our second class we will share and observe the changes in our three marshmallow peeps. We will record our observations by drawing and/or writing. Learners will be encouraged to think of a way to modify the experiment if they were to do it again.

Learning Goals

Day 1:
Learners will identify the materials needed for the experiment.
Learners will make predictions about what they think will happen to the peeps during the experiment.
Day 2:
Learners will record and share their observations.
Learners will think of a way to modify this experiment.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
An adult should be nearby to supervise the learner while pouring the liquids into the bowls. After class the bowls should be kept in a safe place to ensure that the materials are not eaten by young children or pets.
