1:1 Learn to Read and Spell Private Tutoring

What will be taught?
In 1:1 tutoring sessions, I will work with your child to increase their reading skills, spelling skills, phonics skills, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. 
Students receive individualized instruction based on my assessment and their needs. 

What topics will be covered?
We will practice decoding and fluently reading stories and books.  We will work on letters and their sounds as well as different phonics rules to help decode unfamiliar words.  We will practice reading and spelling high-frequency words.   We will practice our comprehension by retelling stories and asking/answering questions about a story.

How will students be taught?
I will start with informally assessing your child (based on my assessment tools and what you share with me).  Each session will start with reviewing any previously learned skills.  Then we will dive into new skills, and then a mix of reading and spelling games and activities.  We will spend time reading books and stories together.  I firmly believe that read-alouds are an amazing way to gain reading skills, comprehension skills, and a love of reading so there will be read-aloud time.  Students will interact with me 1:1 over video chat.  I will have slides on my screen to help direct the lesson.  I will also have different props and manipulatives I use.   We will play a lot of games.  We will listen to stories and read stories on the screen.
