Class Experience

Don't know what to do with all those old broken crayons you have laying around?
In this hands on class students will learn how to take those old crayons and turn them into new up-cycled ones using fun molds and an oven! Since I will be making the crayons along with the students they will have a visual to guide them through each step. These crayons will last for hours of fun and coloring. I will post the directions in the classroom after class so your learner can continue to make them in the future.

Parental Guidance

We will be using an oven so parental supervision is highly recommended.

Supply List

Learners will need:
Oven
Crayons
Silicone molds in various shapes or designs 
Cookie sheet
Tin foil
Bowl of warm water or an Exacto knife to remove paper from crayons

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Teacher Samantha. It’s so great to meet you! I live in the great state of Georgia, and love all things science, baking, cheerleading and Disney. I attended public school where I was a part of sideline and competitive cheerleading 9th-12th grade and for 3 years in college. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Special Education from Lee University and have worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist for the past three years. I also teach for VIPKid and have recently become a stay at home mom. 

Cumulatively, I have been teaching for 7 years, including teaching one on one as a neurodevelopmental teacher, working in ABA, teaching ESL and coaching gymnastics and cheerleading to students ages 3 to 17. Throughout this experience, I have developed a passion for interactive, academic, and interest-based learning. I treat each student like the individual they are by molding my teaching style to their own experiences and interests, and adhering to their personality, comfort-levels, and strengths. I believe this approach to learning cultivates self-confidence, creativity, problem-solving, and a true love for learning! 

I offer a large variety of classes, as I enjoy keeping an open door for delving into many areas of interest. I plan to put this into action by offering hands on science and math classes, alongside electives, Disney-themed crafts and cheerleading and strength-based lessons. 

My classes will always be upbeat, exciting, and hands on. This includes allowing each student to engage in class in whatever way they’re comfortable, and incorporating step by step modeling, interactive slides, and printables into my lessons.
