This class very briefly touches upon the subject of colonialism, however it is not discussed in depth. The goal of this class is to introduce a famous historical figure - Mahatma Gandhi. The story book that we will be reading is targeted for ages 5-10 year olds. At all times, a balanced and fair portrayal of Gandhi’s life will be given and multiple perspectives will be shared. I have a degree from the University of Oxford in the humanities and over 5 years experience teaching geography, history and classical civilisation. I am of Indian ethnicity and my great-grandfather participated in Gandhi’s famous Salt March, one of the world’s greatest examples of non-violent and peaceful protest. I am passionate about teaching this topic and always fair and diplomatic in my delivery of this sensitive topic.
