Magnatile Math and Writing

In this one-time class students will build with magna-tiles while practicing math and writing skills. 

Students are more engaged in learning when they are doing something they enjoy! In this class students will get to create and build structures using magnatiles or other building materials. 

After learners create these structures they will get to communicate what they built to the group. This promotes communication skills. 

Then, students will be encouraged to "see the math" in their structure. The teacher will model what they looks like with the structure that she creates during class. Students will get an opportunity to communicate this out loud as the teacher write math terms on the board. 

Finally, students will be encouraged to write about their structure using the math terms they came up with. If time runs out learners will be encouraged to complete their writing after class. 

Why magnatiles? 
Since magnatiles are 2D shapes it makes it easier for students to connect it with math.
