Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
This won't be your typical math class, but rather filled with games, art projects, math puzzles, and more all centered around age-appropriate math skills. The math topics that will be covered will vary upon the age of the students, their math level, and the requests of parents. The parents will communicate their needs before class, then it will be my job to create a tailor-made class that their children will enjoy! One example of a math project would be the student creating a "Goofy Glyph." As students answer questions about their likes and dislikes, they will also answer math problems depending on their answers. With the results of the questions, the students will create a work of art that they will be proud of. Topics that can be covered include, but are not limited to: Place Value Reading and Writing Numbers Rounding Numbers Addition and Subtraction Multiplication Division Word Problems with Multiplication and Division Multi-step Word Problems Prime and Composite Numbers Place Value Reading and Writing Numbers Rounding Numbers Equivalent Fractions Comparing Fractions Adding and Subtracting Fractions Multiplying Fractions Fractions with Denominators of 10 and 100 Decimal Notation for Fractions Comparing Decimals Equivalent Measurements Measurement Word Problems Areas and Perimeters Line Plots for Measurement Data Measuring Angles Adding and Subtracting Angles Drawing and Identifying Lines and Angles Classifying Figures Symmetry

Hi everyone!
I have taught in person for over 15 years and online for 4 years. I have taught math, social studies, cultural studies, English Literature, ESL, and AP Seminar for learners from 6 years old to adults. I've also taught arts and crafts, sewing, crocheting, drawing and painting for children 6 years old to 16 years old.
I have a BA in Linguistics from the University of Texas (Hook 'em horns!), an MA in Sociology from Sam Houston State University, and an MA in Teaching English from Hamline University. I also have my doctorate in English Pedagogy from Murray State University.
My approach to teaching is making sure everyone has fun, learn important facts, and are completely and utterly engaged in the content.
A fun fact about me is that I was a certified teacher in Texas and I homeschooled my own two children for several years. Now, I'm currently training my Pomeranian puppy to be a good boy!
