In this one-time class, students will draw a flamingo in a tropical setting, and color it.

US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner Level
Using my guided drawing process, students will use simple lines, shapes and patterns to create their own stunning flamingo. We will examine the shapes of a flamingo's beak, body tail and legs, practice those shapes, and draw a flamingo. We will finish it using black Sharpies, colored pencils, and markers (optional). Background knowledge of lines, shapes and patterns, and how they are used to create a work of art are helpful, but not necessary. An hour of drawing/coloring on their own time...
As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
