Teacher expertise and credentials
**Update: I am taking a hiatus from Outschool as I take care of some personal matters. Thank you to all of the learners and their families who have spent time with me learning and having fun.**

Hello everyone! My name is Miss April and I am so excited to be a part of the Outschool community! Here you will find that I love to have fun, be silly, and make learners laugh - all while learning at the same time. We do lots of crafts and hands-on activities while practicing math, literacy, and even social skills! I love hosting read alouds and book clubs for learners of all ages. I strive to engage a variety of learning styles and to create space for learners to interact with each other.

My background includes:
- Teaching Preschool at a brick and mortar school
- Serving families as a nanny: One child I cared for needed more structure and she was a little learning sponge so I created an at-home thematic curriculum that followed her interests, sparked a love of learning and reading and set her up for success at school! I also worked as a nanny when Covid shut down schools and was able to create play-based academic activities to keep those learning muscles working!
- Working in student ministry with learners grades 6-12
- Teaching ESL classes online, including a TESOL certification

All of these experiences have helped me grow in my passion for nurturing, empowering and educating learners of all ages.

Some fun things about me include:
1. I used to work at The Disney Store (and it was so much fun - I love Disney).
2. Eyeshadow palettes are a weakness of mine.
3. I have developed a love for birthday cake Oreos.
4. I have 2 kiddos.
5. I want to read all of the books and visit all of the places (let me know your favorite vacation destination when you enroll in a class)!

I cannot wait to meet you!
