In this course, students will learn the Italian for beginners curriculum through interactive lectures where they will have the opportunity to participate in class discussions and conversations with a partner, all in a relaxed atmosphere. We use presentations with visuals and graphs to introduce the content followed by student's centered activities such as role playing and games. This course does not build on previous topics and learners can join at any time. After the lesson, students may complete a series of optional activities to reinforce the lesson's content. These activities will include a combination of skills: reading, speaking and writing and will not reflect on the following meeting. All instructional materials will be available through the Outschool classroom. Distribution of themes by week: Week of June 8 – Weather Week of June 15 – Feelings and emotions. The verb to be Week of June 22 – Greetings Week of June 29 – Likes: Food Week of July 6 – Descriptions Week of July 13 – Likes: Activities Week of July 20 – Family. Possessive adjectives Week of July 27 – Articles. Telling time Week of August 3 – Daily routines Week of August 10 – Places around the city Week of August 17 – Body Parts. At the Hospital Week of August 24 – At school Week of August 31 – The verb to go. Places Week of September 7 – Around the City. Prepositions Week of September 14 – Sports: Actions and activities Week of September 21 – Comparatives Week of September 28 – The verb to have Week of October 5 – Expressions with the verb to have Week of October 12 – ER/IR Regular Verbs Week of October 19 – Stem-changing Verbs Week of October 26 – Stem-Changing Verbs (continued) Week of November 2 – Irregular verbs: I do Week of November 9 – Ongoing Actions: What are you doing right now? At this point our curriculum will circle back. This program might be adjusted to meet learner's need and some modification to the schedule could apply. Learners will receive exposure to the topics with the opportunity to practice in a communicative format. We use colorful visuals, music, games and context clues to facilitate understanding and keep the goals of every lesson simple enough for learners to be able to memorize new words and phrases every session while using them in simple conversations. Fun and age appropriate topics as well as language immersion suited for beginners will translate into fluency.
