In this class, students learn about Japanese rice and how to cook traditional and kawaii (cute) onigiri (rice balls), a popular and healthy Japanese comfort food, using ingredients from your local supermarket. This class introduces Japanese cooking, culture and nutrition information.

[Materials] scissor, 2 small custard cups or rice bowls, plastic wrap [Ingredients] FOR RICE BALLS - ONIGIRI: 2 cups cooked Japanese short grain rice* (Approximately 1 cup uncooked short or medium grain rice. Please cook rice before class and keep it warm. Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Our instructor will demonstrate how to make a dish during the class and students can try doing the recipe along with the instructor, with appropriate supervision if necessary. We will provide recipes and ingredient options. If cooking with a stove is required, students with adult supervision can complete the cooking either during the class or after the class has ended.
