In this ongoing art course, we will paint our way through science. This course will cover the planets, the stars and the sun, moons and much more! An arts integration education sets out to help students understand real world application of science through the arts. By integrating art into science, students understand the inter-relatedness of everything they learn. This method of teaching and learning also promotes creativity and collaboration. And all of this leads to scientific literacy. Scientific Literacy is the understanding of the impact science has on anything and everything from history to philosophy, physical education to geography… even the arts. And it applies to everyone, no matter where or how they live or what language they speak. That means that gaining scientific literacy is highly advantageous for young people preparing to go into the world. Especially a world that puts such emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). What will be covered in this course? Week of 7/4/25 - The Stars Week of 14/4/25 - Moons Week of 21/4/25 - Asteroids Week of 28/04/25 - Astronauts Week of 5/05/25 - Rockets Week of 12/05/25 - Exploring Space Week of 19/05/25 - Terrestrial Planets Week of 26/05/25 - Gas Giants Week of 2/06/25 - The Sun Each class will consist of introducing a new aspect of science through art, having the learners brainstorm and discuss this aspect of science, and then work individually and collaboratively towards an art project on the theme. Learners will need to bring their own materials to each class as they discover all about the awesome world of science. Suggested materials and the project for the week will be posted to the classroom at 7pm PST on Sundays. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We look forward to being part of your learning journey!
