In this ongoing course, learners will develop their maths skills. This course is part of a six year primary maths course that takes a problem-solving approach to teaching young learners the skills they need to become confident mathematicians. This course contains a greater focus on the use of manipulatives in the classroom, pictorial and abstract representations to promote deeper learning, language support to help EAL students develop fluency in mathematical language. Time Week of 3/3/25 - Knowing the relationship between units of time Week of 10/3/25 - Reading the time to the nearest 5 minutes Week of 17/3/25 - Calculating time intervals Week of 24/3/25 - Reading a calendar Data Handling Week of 31/3/25 - Tally and bar charts, frequency tables, pictograms Week of 7/4/25 - Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams Number and Place Value Week of 14/4/25 - Place value Week of 21/4/25 - Comparing three-digit numbers Week of 28/4/25 - Estimation and rounding Week of 5/5/25 - Number sequences Fractions Week of 12/5/25 - Halves and equivalent fractions Week of 19/5/25 - Finding fractions of shapes and numbers Mental Calculation Week of 26/5/25 - Mental strategies for addition and subtraction Week of 2/6/25 - Mental strategies for multiplication and division Addition and Subtraction Week of 9/6/25 - Adding and subtracting multiples of 10 and 100 Week of 16/6/25 - Adding several small numbers Week of 23/6/25 - Adding pairs of two- and three-digit numbers Week of 30/6/25 - Adding and subtracting numbers Multiplication and Division Week of 7/7/25 - Multiplying and dividing numbers Week of 14/7/25 - Multiplying teen numbers by 3 and 5 Week of 21/7/25 - Dividing numbers with remainders Shapes and Geometry Week of 28/7/25 - Identifying and classifying polygons Week of 4/8/25 - Properties of 3D shapes Week of 11/8/25 - Draw and complete 2D shapes Position and Movement Week of 18/8/25 - Using a grid to describe position Week of 25/8/25 - Drawing right angles and comparing angles Length, Mass and Capacity Week of 1/9/25 - Choosing appropriate units and converting units Week of 8/9/25 - Solving word problems involving measures Week of 15/9/25 - Constructing accurately using measures This course uses Oxford International Primary Maths 6 - Tony Cotton, Caroline Clissold, Linda Glithro, Cherri Moseley, Janet Rees.
