********************************************************************************************************* Note for young learners: Learners should know how to copy paste text from one place to another. ********************************************************************************************************** We build different fun pages in this class. We are currently building a webpage showing various capital cities from around the world. Learners can choose upto 10 cities and add those to their webpage. This class aims to give an introduction to the basics of HTML. Learners will learn how to create an HTML web page and view it in the browser. They will learn how to format their page using various elements such as paragraphs. headings, lists, images and styles. The class allows learners to learn by doing. Learners code and create a sample webpage during the class. Learners do not need any formal experience or knowledge. The only prerequisite for the class is the ability to type using the keyboard.
Learning Goals
By the end of the class learners will have learnt how to add headings, paragraphs, unordered and ordered lists, images on their webpage. They will also have a brief introduction to CSS and be able to add background color and text color to their various elements.Other Details

We will use onecompiler.com to type and run our code. Learners can also choose to use textedit (for mac) or notepad(for Windows) if parents can help them learn how to save their files. We will not spend time doing textedit/notepad setup during class.

I am a software professional who has coded in many languages during my career. I graduated as a computer engineer from Mumbai University in 2000 and completed my Masters in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006.
Web programming is by far my favorite topic to teach. I first taught it to post graduate students more than 20 years ago. Ever since, I've enjoyed teaching it to various groups. Most recently, I taught web programming to a group of women who were interested in entering the tech industry. Web programming is specifically a most useful and relatively easier skill for anyone interested in becoming a software programmer in future.Reviews
