Class Experience

The decoding reading strategy "eagle eye" is when you use clues from the pictures with the first letter sound of a word to help figure out a word you do not know when reading. This helps the student when they encounter longer, more complex vocabulary. Often when young readers get to words they do not know, they will skip them. This reading class helps them figure out the word, without just guessing. It will be taught in I do, we do, you do format. This strategy can be used in fiction and nonfiction texts.
