Learn to Draw and Shade a Koala and Joey

In this one-time class, learners will follow the teacher in a step by step process to draw and shade a koala and joey in a tree. This class is suited for students who are comfortable with drawing and have some beginning drawing experience. 

After introductions and guidelines, we will learn a little bit about this amazing Australian marsupial by viewing a brief slideshow with information and photos of the koala. Then I will start drawing the koala one step at a time, explaining certain tips and techniques and going with the overall pace of the class. Learners let me know when they are ready for the next step, and they can ask questions and seek feedback on their art throughout class. 

The style of this class is calm, positive, and supportive. Throughout the lesson, learners will be able to practice their drawing and observational skills, learn how to break a complex subject down into basic shapes, and learn how to create dimensionality, light and shadow, and texture in a drawing. All of this will be learned in a hands on & exploratory way, and learners will come away with their own unique koala pencil drawing.
