Zoo Phonics is a program used to teach children the entire alphabet sounds A-Z (constants and vowels )with zoo animals. Children will use the sounds of the letters , movements that go with the zoo animals presented, and visuals of the movements demonstrated to the Learners by the teacher. Such as " Aa Allie Alligator Ah Ah Ah." Both arms are held out straight in front of the body. Left hand is on the bottom; right hand on top. When child(ren) is/are prompted, they will open and close the hands with their arms like mouth of an alligator opening and closing its mouth and say "ah ah ah" Approximately 20 minutes. Teacher will then play ,"I Spy a Letter That Says... Ah ah ah or Buh buh buh etc. " The learner(s) will then say the letter. Note: not all letters will be reviewed. Approximately 10 minutes. The child will then be given a chance to spell their names using actions learned with Zoo Phonics.10 minutes Review, questions and answers 5 minutes

I have over 20 years of prekindergarten teaching experience. I have an Associate's Degree in Child Development, CPR and First Aid. Approximately 6 years ago, I changed professions and became a Nanny. However, I still use my teaching skills by teaching my charges through songs, hands on experience, stories and arts and crafts. I teach the basic alphabets,numbers, shapes, colors, phonics, counting adding and subtracting, opposites, sizes, estimation and writing skills. I am passionate when it comes to working with children. I enjoy every minute of it!
Because I enjoy teaching, I believe children should have fun learning. I also think children should learn how to apply what they have learned in the classroom out in the real world ie . shapes in our environment. My philosophy is not every child learns the same way. Therefore, I like to teach the child as a whole being rather than just one aspect ( mind,body, and soul) I speak 2 languages: American English, and Mexican Spanish.
Fun fact: I enjoy wearing different t-shirts/hats to celebrate the different holidays. I LOVE celebrating every holiday ,seasons and cultures.
