Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Transform from player to confident Dungeon Master in this engaging, ongoing class for intermediate D\&D enthusiasts. Whether your teen wants to craft thrilling story arcs, lead unforgettable quests, or simply improve at managing the table, this course offers the hands-on guidance and support they need.

Each week blends practical storytelling lessons, group discussions, and real-time DM practice to build essential game-running skills. From designing worlds and balancing encounters to mastering digital tools and navigating tricky player dynamics, students will gradually develop both the confidence and the creative skillset needed to run their own games.

What Learners Will Explore:

* World-building and storytelling: how to design vibrant settings, create compelling plots, and adapt to unpredictable player choices
* Combat and challenge design: building fun, fair, and exciting encounters that keep players engaged
* Improvisation and leadership: developing confidence in thinking on your feet and guiding a group through unexpected turns
* Digital DM tools: using online maps, dice rollers, and virtual tabletops for online or hybrid games
* Roleplay and NPCs: creating memorable characters and bringing the world to life through voice, dialogue, and behavior

How It Works:

* Weekly live sessions include interactive lessons, creative exercises, and supported DM practice
* Students complete take-home prep challenges to build confidence between classes
* Group feedback and discussion help learners grow their skills in a collaborative environment

This Class Is Perfect for Teens Who:

* Enjoy storytelling, creative writing, or leading collaborative projects
* Are interested in game design, improvisation, or developing leadership skills
* Want to run their own adventures and campaigns, either online or in-person

Why It Matters:
Beyond learning to run a game, students will build real-world skills like communication, teamwork, creative thinking, and digital literacy—all while having fun and sharing their passion for fantasy storytelling.

Hi there! I'm Erik, a passionate artist and storyteller with over a decade of professional animation experience and a lifelong dedication to tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons. I specialize in crafting and leading epic campaigns, sharing the magic of collaborative storytelling with players of all ages.

As a Dungeon Master, I’ve published tabletop games and honed a strong understanding of creating rules, balancing mechanics, and fostering engaging, interactive experiences. In this class, I combine my skills to guide students on an adventure where they’ll not only play D&D but also analyze its mechanics and storytelling elements. Together, we’ll explore how these concepts connect to broader themes of creativity and collaboration, helping students develop critical thinking and teamwork skills in a fun and inclusive environment.

Dungeons & Dragons is more than just a game to me; it's a tool for building confidence, enhancing communication, and sparking lifelong friendships. Whether you're new to the game or a seasoned adventurer, I’m excited to lead you on this journey. Together, we’ll create unforgettable stories while learning foundational skills for future creative projects. Are you ready to get started on this adventure? Let’s roll the dice and see what unfolds!
