💡 How This Works This is a mentorship-driven program, meaning students will not only play D&D but also take turns leading and designing their own adventures with support from the instructor and their peers. 1️⃣ Play & Observe: We begin with structured D&D gameplay, modeling best practices for running engaging sessions. 2️⃣ Take the Lead: Students gradually step into the role of Dungeon Master, leading short encounters or full sessions with guidance. 3️⃣ Reflect & Improve: After each session, we analyze what worked, what could be improved, and discuss techniques for stronger storytelling and game mastery. 4️⃣ Mentor & Collaborate: Returning students support new members, creating a dynamic learning environment where everyone grows together. Why This Approach? This apprenticeship-style format helps students develop: ✅ Confidence as a Dungeon Master – Gain real experience leading games in a supportive setting. ✅ Storytelling & world-building skills – Learn to craft rich, immersive narratives. ✅ Game design & balancing – Create engaging encounters and adapt to player choices. ✅ Leadership & improvisation – Develop public speaking and problem-solving skills. ✅ Collaboration & mentorship – Teach and learn from peers, reinforcing knowledge. By alternating between playing, leading, and analyzing, students get real-world DM experience in a low-pressure, fun, and creative environment. For Parents This program goes beyond just playing Dungeons & Dragons—it builds essential skills for leadership, communication, and creative problem-solving. By enrolling in our mentorship program, your child will: ✅Gain confidence in public speaking and guiding groups. ✅Develop strong critical thinking and storytelling abilities. ✅Learn to mentor and collaborate with others. ✅Build a sense of responsibility and leadership through hands-on experience. Whether your child dreams of being a Dungeon Master, storyteller, or simply wants to develop strong leadership skills, this program provides the perfect mix of mentorship, creativity, and fun. --- 📌 New students can join at any time! Those looking for a more structured foundation can take our 8-week Learn to DM course before transitioning here. https://outschool.com/classes/learn-how-to-dungeon-master-running-the-game-dungeons-dragons-2hS3CqoK?usid=A6SlPHfv&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

Hi there! I'm Erik, a passionate artist and storyteller with over a decade of professional animation experience and a lifelong dedication to tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons. I specialize in crafting and leading epic campaigns, sharing the magic of collaborative storytelling with players of all ages.
As a Dungeon Master, I’ve published tabletop games and honed a strong understanding of creating rules, balancing mechanics, and fostering engaging, interactive experiences. In this class, I combine my skills to guide students on an adventure where they’ll not only play D&D but also analyze its mechanics and storytelling elements. Together, we’ll explore how these concepts connect to broader themes of creativity and collaboration, helping students develop critical thinking and teamwork skills in a fun and inclusive environment.
Dungeons & Dragons is more than just a game to me; it's a tool for building confidence, enhancing communication, and sparking lifelong friendships. Whether you're new to the game or a seasoned adventurer, I’m excited to lead you on this journey. Together, we’ll create unforgettable stories while learning foundational skills for future creative projects. Are you ready to get started on this adventure? Let’s roll the dice and see what unfolds!
