Students can expect a completed drawing but everyone works at their own pace while coloring, adding shading and a background. If a student has not fully completed all of the coloring they can complete this at home.Class Experience
Students will learn facts about axolotls and practice basic drawing and coloring skills. We will talk about specific drawing and coloring tips such as "Keep it light until you've got it right" and proportion as we draw our Axolotl Squishmallows different sizes. Students can choose to follow the teacher step by step or they can add their own creative details. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite Squishmallow or axolotl toy to class and they will be given a chance to talk about it if they would like. Students will also be given a chance to share what they know about axolotls and we will have an open discussion throughout class. This class also includes an original Axolotl Squishmallows coloring page designed by the teacher, Marie, available upon enrollment. PLEASE READ BEFORE ENROLLMENT: FAQ/Policies - ONE STUDENT PER SPOT. If enrolling multiple students, please register each of them. Multiple students appearing under the same spot will result in students being removed from the classroom. - All my Outschool classes have a limited refund policy. Transfers, no-shows, late arrivals, cancellations, refunds and make-up requests CANNOT be accommodated within 24 hours of class time. No exceptions. Class recordings are available upon request for missed sections if the class proceeds with other students. - Teachers on Outschool are independent contractors who cannot control nor troubleshoot technical issues with Zoom or the Outschool platform. Please test your connection with your device in advance of class time and contact Outschool directly at support@outschool.com for help with technical issues. - Live sections with no present learners are cancelled after 10 minutes of class time. - I do not offer sibling discounts for public classes at this time, however, I do offer a small discount for private classes when registering 2 or more students for a month or more. Please message me for more details. - These are WYSIWIG art classes: What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get! All thumbnails, promotional materials, class resources, and in-class drawings are original art produced by Marie (the teacher). Students are often offered a variety of reference images and resources from popular art styles to choose so they can draw in their preferred style, but special focus is paid to developing student's original art skills and not simply copying another artist. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Marie, a full-time teacher and artist. I love a wide variety of art and discovering new ways to foster learning through creativity. I believe having fun and laughing while learning is important because it encourages self confidence and joy. I always try my best to make my classes fun, engaging, and a welcoming experience for every student.
I have taught classroom Art as a certified educator in US schools for 10+ years from ages pre-school through high school, as well as teaching & tutoring in single and group lessons for Art, ESL, SPED, Social Studies, Math, Science, Technology and gifted students. I have also designed and taught in a number of summer camps. In 2017, I was awarded Teacher of the Year honors at my school. I have taught individual and small-group art lessons both online and in my community since 2018, as well as creating and selling my own art to buyers on every continent (well, except Antarctica!)
I have a BA in Education, and have continued professional certification experience through outside professional training programs, conferences and seminars.
In my spare time I enjoy nature, travel, games, and playing with my dogs. I have transitioned to full-time, online private teaching as I believe it allows teachers to develop curriculum which better meets the needs and interests of today's students by directly engaging with the students more thoroughly. The individual and small group settings allow teachers to cater lessons to students needs and goals intuitively. Private teaching online has also allowed me more time and flexibility to spend with my family. I truly believe online learning is a critical part of the future of education, and I'm excited to share some class time with you!
