In this ongoing art course, we will paint our way through science. This course will cover the axolotl, beavers, rhinos, pangolins, tree lobsters, red eyed tree frogs, the artic fox and much more! Includes STEM STEAM projects. An arts integration education sets out to help students understand real world application of science through the arts. By integrating art into science, students understand the inter-relatedness of everything they learn. This method of teaching and learning also promotes creativity and collaboration. And all of this leads to scientific literacy. Scientific Literacy is the understanding of the impact science has on anything and everything from history to philosophy, physical education to geography… even the arts. And it applies to everyone, no matter where or how they live or what language they speak. That means that gaining scientific literacy is highly advantageous for young people preparing to go into the world. Especially a world that puts such emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). What will be covered in this course? Week of 15/8/2022 - Giant Octopus Week of 22/8/2022 - Amazon River Dolphins Week of 29/8/2022 - Red Eyed Tree Frogs Week of 5/9/2022 - Arctic Fox Week of 12/9/2022 - Gentoo Penguins Week of 19/9/2022 - Blue Whales Week of 26/9/2022 - Mexican Axolotl Week of 3/10/2022 - Red Bellied Piranhas Week of 10/10/2022 - Gorillas Week of 17/10/2022 - Black Caimans Further classes will be added. Each class will consist of introducing a new aspect of science through art, having the learners brainstorm and discuss this aspect of science, and then work individually and collaboratively towards an art project on the theme. Learners will need to bring their own materials to each class as they discover all about the awesome world of science. Suggested materials and the project for the week will be posted to the classroom at 7pm PST on Sundays. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We look forward to being part of your learning journey!
