Use this code for $10 off your first week through 7/8: DRYEL348U910 This class will meet twice each week to learn topics that are typically taught in 5th grade!!! This is a great class for students to review 5th grade topics over the summer or prepare learners for their fifth grade year! In the first class each week I will do a mini lesson about the new topic along with examples. Next, the students will work to solve some on their own! Students will be encouraged to share their problem solving with the group through discussion, the chat box, and the whiteboard feature on zoom! Pictures and manipulatives such as fraction bars and hundreds blocks will be used to illustrate topics as needed. I will integrate word problems each week. Real world topics such as money and food will be integrated when appropriate. A game will be used in the second class each week to engage learners in practice of the new skill! Games include bingo, kahoot, Jeopardy, and Blooket!!! Week of 6/24: (no class Monday, refunded half the cost) Adding and Subtracting decimals Week of 7/1: multiplying decimals (no class 7/4, refunded half the week) Week 7/8: multiplying decimals and using long division to divide whole numbers Week of 7/15: No class, no charge. Week 7/22: Adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators. Multiplying fractions Week 7/29: Dividing fractions Week of 8/6: Identifying 3D figures, finding the volume of cubes and rectangular prisms. Week 8/12: Graphing points in quadrant one of the coordinate plane.

Hi!! I’m Mrs. Drye. I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Math Education from UNC-Charlotte. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and Teacher of the Year when I taught 6th grade math! As a teacher I focus on building relationships with students so that I can help them to build their math confidence. I focus on differentiating learning for each of my students. I can extend learning for some learners while helping others to review a topic that’s tough for them. I encourage students to share their math thinking and guide them in learning new strategies. I also keep class fun and exciting with games, discussion, and songs! I taught 5th and 6th grade for 8 years before deciding to stay home and homeschool my three girls. My daughters are now 10, 8, and almost 6! I enjoy exploring new places, teaching, and exercising!
