It's All About the HOOK! Types of Hooks to Use in Your Essay Writing.

A hook is an opening statement in an essay designed to grab the reader's attention, and keep it! Writing a creative hook helps to differentiate our paper. A great hook, keeps them wanting more.

Class Experience

The teacher has just assigned you an essay requiring you to use a "Creative Hook". What is this? What do they want? Attend this class and let's get to the bottom of this dilemma!
We will review exactly what a "Hook" is. We will review a variety of formats that deliver a strong and creative hook.
This class is structured as a one time class. There will be other portions of an essay that can be taken along with, and/or, after this lesson. We will participate in this class using the ME, WE, YOU method of teaching. Instruction will take place using a live video feed as well as an interactive platform using slides, discussions, games, and video clips so that your student gets immediate feedback while engaged in the lesson.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello,
My name is Delta Apodaca. I have been in education since 1997. During this time, I have taught grades K-12. I am an English teacher with a Reading Specialist Endorsement. I have taught younger students how to read and have filled in the holes for older students. Phonics and writing instruction are also a part of my toolbox. ESL/ELL and Reading intervention classes are right up my alley. I believe that ALL kids can learn and that we as educators are tasked with finding a way to reach ALL kids. I am a mom of four kiddos: two are teachers now, one is still in high school, and the other works as a fireman like dad. Public service runs deep in our home. We love to be in the outdoors as a family. Crafting is a passion of mine, from party decorating- to home decorating, I absolutely love this past time. We are going to do great things together, I can't wait to meet you!
