This session is designed to guide students through the process of crafting compelling and effective essays for college admissions, personal statements, and scholarship applications. Students will learn how to highlight their unique experiences, voice, and goals in a way that resonates with admissions officers or scholarship committees. We will look at a variety of examples and I will provide prompts to help them brainstorm. Students will be asked to work on drafts and I will read and provide feedback on their drafts during our sessions. Learners will benefit from one-on-one sessions where I provide targeted feedback about content, grammar, genre, and form. Sessions will be structured as a flexible, personalized one-on-one session tailored to the student’s specific needs and goals. I'll begin with an initial assessment where we discuss the essay prompt(s) and review any drafts the student has prepared. Next, we will have a brainstorming session. We'll work together to generate ideas and identify the key themes and experiences to highlight. Depending on the student’s progress, we will either draft new content, refine existing sections, or focus on specific elements like tone and structure. I will provide detailed feedback and guide the student through revisions to ensure the essay is polished and ready for submission. Interaction is a central part of these sessions. Students will actively participate in every step of the process.
