Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Learners will be taught the fundamental basics of writing an essay. They will learn about creating an introductory opening, body, and closing in their essays. This a lecture-style lesson in which learners will be writing along with the teacher who will be modeling an essay. Learners will participate in a Q and A format and will begin demonstrating effective writing skills with the teacher during the session. In the first week, we will focus on Descriptive Writing. Learners will practice writing a short essay using descriptive sentences for what they are describing through their written pieces and be taught the process of editing their writing pieces. The second-week learners will learn how to create narrative essay writing starting with making an essay plan and then writing the entire essay from start to finish. The third-week learners will learn how to create an expository/opinion essay. They will start by planning their essay and then writing the entire essay from start to finish. In the final week, the learners will review each writing style that was covered during the previous weeks and demonstrate writing an essay for each style of writing that was taught in weeks one-three. Learners do not need to have much experience with writing an essay, but should at least know that an essay has an opening, body, and a closing.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to demonstrate effective communication through written writing skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have worked with students in the Florida Public School System for over 20 years. I have taught in all the core subject areas in elementary education. My experience ranges from remedial to gifted. Two years ago, I began tutoring online and focused on my passion. My online teaching experience has provided me an opportunity to find alternative ways to communicate and teach students effectively.
My classroom focuses on the individual student, and their success is of my utmost importance. With such an extensive teaching background, I have learned strategies to make material adaptive when needed through presentation methods and delivery of material. I work to maintain a line of open communication with parents so that all students may succeed.
I am always learning and bettering myself. I enjoy swimming, reading, cooking, baking, taking photos, trying new foods, and traveling to new places.
