IMPORTANT INFORMATION: **I teach classes with my baby in the room or by wearing baby. Baby may be seen or heard at times during class.** **Learners should know their numbers and be able to recognize most numbers up to 99.** We will begin class discussing what rods (tens) and units (ones) are. Learners will learn that a unit represents one and a rod represents ten. As a class, we will create the numbers 0-20 using our rods and units. This is the foundation the learners need before creating bigger numbers. We will discuss that only the digits 0-9 can be written in each place value. We can't have more than one digit in a place value. Then we will do more practice with bigger numbers. When learners show a better understanding of the place value for tens and ones, we will have some independent work. Learners will use a blank sheet of paper and marker during this independent work time. I will show them how they need to fold their paper, so it is divided into different parts. In each box on their paper, learners will write the number that I tell them and draw a picture using rods (quick tens) and units (ones) to represent that number. Learners will show their work after each number and receive praises for their work.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to make numbers up to 99 using rods (quick tens) and units (ones) to represent the numbers given to them.

Hello! Welcome to my learning page! I am so glad you found it and are here!
My name is Mrs. Makenna! I love all things math, phonics, reading and sensory play. I even like some science and geography. I taught in the classroom before I started moving around the country with my husband’s job. We love to travel and explore new places. I have been all over the United States and Central America.
My passion is working with children, and I have missed being in the classroom. However, online teaching has been just as fun! I have had the pleasure of working with some learners for several years and have seen so much growth in them. I can’t wait to watch your learner(s) grow, too.
I believe every learner is unique and can learn at their own pace. Learning is so much better when we are having fun in the process. Let’s have some fun together! See you in the classroom soon!
