What's included

Class Experience

This course will dive into the world of Forensics and Criminology - hopefully inspiring some learners to follow this very exciting career path!
Different topics will be discussed, including the basics of Forensic Psychology, why some individuals may commit crimes, understanding some mental health conditions that could be associated with crimes, and additionally, the treatment of those who have committed crimes.
On the topic of Criminology, we will focus upon the scientific study of Criminal behaviours on an individual, social, or natural level. We will explore how this behaviour could be managed effectively, or ineffectively, and ultimately, how such behaviour could be prevented.

The course will be split up into 5 weeks:
Week 1 (week beginning 22/2/21) : Forensic Psychology - Psychological Theories about why some people commit crimes.
Week 2 (week beginning 27/2/21) : Forensic Psychology - The treatment of those who have committed crimes.
Week 3 (week beginning 06/3/21) : Criminology - Criminal behaviours on an individual, social, or natural level
Week 4 (week beginning 13/3/21) : Criminology - How criminal behaviour could be managed effectively, or even prevented.
Week 5 (week beginning 20/3/21) : Conclusion - Using all of the information provided so far, we will work on a case study to try to understand some reasoning as to why the crime may have been committed, If it could it have been prevented, and what is the best method of managing effectively.

This course will be pre-recorded, so you can have access to the information at a time that suits you. I will tell you lots of interesting information to learn and hopefully remember. I will use some famous cases that we can study together and eventually (in the final class) try to figure out WHY this person committed the crime, or what actually happened in this case study.

There will be a forum where students can ask any questions, and also receive help or more information from myself, I will provide lots of information that students can read throughout the week if they have the time available. On the classroom forum, students will be asked a question once a week (additional to class) that will provoke critical thinking, and allow students to respond to this, and communicate with the teacher, and with each other also. This will encourage a debate, and to allow students to discuss their own opinions on the matter, and also improve critical thinking by hearing others opinions.

This course is perfect for if you have busy schedules, as it is a flexible course, and therefore the materials will be available whenever is convenient for you! We can then chat and discuss throughout the week whenever you have some free time.
