Homework

1 hour per week. There is so much wonderful learning content on YouTube. After each class, I will post links that will support content of each lesson. There may also be handouts, video review, and vocabulary lists provided to supplement classroom content.

In our last session, students will be prepared to introduce themselves to the rest of the group!

With a small class size of three to six members, each child will receive individualized attention.  Our class time will involve flashcards, games, songs, and other visual aides to assist in learning the targeted Japanese language for each session. 

The goal for all students will be to introduce themselves completely at the end of their 4 week course.  This will include greetings, name, age (numbers 1-10), and likes (colors).  We will explore how greetings relate to the culture in Japan and how very important it is to show respect to the person you are talking to.  We will learn vocabulary for common greetings, numbers, ages, and colors. 

Each week students will receive a PDF of target language and a video created by sensei to review.  Their will also be other handouts, links, and content after every class.  

Schedule: 

Week 1 - Greetings 
Week 2 - Numbers 1-10 and Age
Week 3 - Colors and Likes 
Week 4 - Review and Presentation

Jasmine-sensei brings nearly 25 years of experience teaching English and Japanese as a second language to students of all ages worldwide. She spent over 16 years living in Japan, immersing herself in the Kansai and Kanto regions. Her journey with Japanese began at 16, when she spent a semester in Japan on a homestay in 1992. Since then, Japanese has remained one of her greatest passions. Jasmine-sensei continues to actively study the language, both independently and with a mentor, to provide the best possible instruction and experience for her students.  She has earned the highest level of the Japanese Proficiency Test - N1.
