Homework
1-2 hours per week. Throughout the InkFlight Academy: Dream, Create, & Publish Your Book on Amazon in 90 Days course, homework assignments are designed to reinforce what students learn during each session and help them make steady progress toward completing their book. Here’s an overview of the homework assigned each week: Homework Overview: Week 1: Dreaming Big – Finding Your Story Idea Homework: Refine your top three story ideas and choose one to develop. Write a few sentences describing the world, main character, and central conflict. Week 2: Crafting Compelling Characters Homework: Expand on your main character by completing their Character Creation Card. Focus on their strengths, fears, goals, and relationships with other characters. Week 3: Plotting and Building Conflict Homework: Use the Plot Outline Worksheet to map out the major events of your story. Identify the central conflict and describe how your character will face challenges. Week 4: World-Building – Creating the Setting and Environmen
Certificate of Completion
Completion Certificate At the end of the course, a "Published Author" certificate for completing all the major steps—writing their story, completing illustrations and the cover design, and successfully publishing on Amazon. This is motivating and exciting for young authors and can be showcased to their teachers, family, and friends!

Led by InkFlight Academy, the creators of "Red Bird: Far From Home"—an Amazon #1 best-seller in seven different categories—this course provides step-by-step guidance through the entire creative process. From brainstorming imaginative ideas to creating compelling characters and vivid worlds, your child will learn everything they need to know to bring their story to life. Along the way, we’ll explore essential storytelling skills like plot structure, dialogue writing, and world-building.

But the adventure doesn’t stop at writing! Students will also design eye-catching book covers, format their stories for Amazon, and learn how to publish them on KDP. By the end of the course, your child will become a published author, with their book available for purchase on Amazon.

Lesson 1:
Dreaming Big – Finding Your Story Idea
 Students will explore how to dream big and tap into their imagination to create unique story ideas. They’ll use the workbook’s Idea Generator Worksheet to brainstorm “What if?” scenarios and build the foundation for their book.

Lesson 2:
Crafting Compelling Characters
 This week, students will focus on creating engaging and memorable characters. Using the Character Creation Cards from the workbook, they’ll define their protagonist’s traits, strengths, weaknesses, and goals, shaping the heart of their story.

Plotting and Building Conflict
 Students will learn how to structure their story using the Plot Outline Worksheet. They will map out the five key stages of their plot and explore how to build conflict that drives their characters' actions and keeps readers hooked.

 This week is all about designing the world where the story takes place. Students will dive into the World-Building Worksheet to create vivid settings, from the geography and landscape to the culture, society, and rules of their world.

Parental Guidance
This class requires parental involvement during certain weeks, particularly in the final stages of publishing on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Parents or guardians will need to assist learners in setting up an Amazon KDP account, formatting the manuscript, and uploading the book for publication. No personal information will be shared in the classroom, but families should be aware of the privacy policies of third-party tools like Amazon KDP and Canva. For Canva (if used for cover design), learners may need help navigating the tool. Creating a Canva account may be required. Additionally, students will be creating stories that could explore various themes, and parents are encouraged to discuss content with their child to ensure it aligns with family values. There is no specific upsetting or scary content built into the class.
