Is your child struggling in reading? Or does your child need extra practice to be a proficient reader? I am a veteran elementary teacher who provides reading remediation. I will use all information that you have (anecdotal observations, report cards, etc.) and give the student a reading benchmark to determine their current reading level. Then I will assess phonics and sight word skills. This data will be used to create an individual reading plan for the student. Each lesson will focus on the five components of reading: vocabulary, phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension. Students will learn strategies for determining unknown words in reading and coached in how to determine which strategies are appropriate. Parents will need to provide communication with the teacher as far as student background and also be willing to practice reading in between tutoring sessions. The student will complete another reading benchmark at the end of the tutoring time period to determine reading growth.

Students will need: *dry erase board and marker *index cards (if needed for sight words) *Reading A-Z website will be used for leveled reading books (free) *a quiet space for learning *other materials as needed
