A counter partner to Adobe Photoshop is Illustrator, and out of the two design programs to learn, Illustrator is by far the easiest to get a handle on. Illustrator is your drawing program and it's used mostly for creating logos and digital illustrations because you have more control over what you're doing. In order to be able to use the program and feel comfortable, it's vital you take the time to learn the entire program from the ground up starting with the dialog box. It's really helpful when you're able to find where everything is located, what things are called and more importantly, when and how to use them. Each lesson is broken down into a single video that thoroughly covers every drop down menu item making it easy for you to understand how to navigate your way through the program before diving straight in. The last video will cover the Tool bar. It is recommended you view these videos in the order as they're presented because each video will build onto the next lesson. This course works best if you're on a laptop or computer. iPads are not recommended.

"Thank you so much for helping me pass my class and having so much patience with me even though you might have had a long and busy day. I appreciate all the time and words of encouragement. Thank you for believing in me even when I was doubting myself."

Hello Kiddos!
My name is Stacy and I'm going to teach you about art, design, business, photography and even hair care??!?! I know...hair care throws everyone for a loop. I'll get to that experience shortly.
Anyhow, I've been an artist and designer working for other people and myself. I've been designing print pieces and websites for over 20 years working for companies like Belkin, Mercedes, Porsche, Natrol, The NBC Agency/NBCUniversal, UCLA and more. You might have seen the Heroes billboards and bus stop ads throughout L.A. and N.Y. years ago...I worked on those projects! So, I can teach you how to use the software, but also how to design and send your artwork correctly to the printer. You have no idea how many professionals get that wrong! I can help you get it right.
I've also designed and built lots of websites from the ground up. I always start my website projects with a sketch version first so I know what the website should look like before I start building it. It's like having the cover to the puzzle box in front of you to work from. When you can see the whole picture, it makes it easier and faster to put the puzzle together than if the box cover was missing. Pictures make it easier to see what you're working on and where to start.
You probably also didn't know that I've had my art on display in many group exhibitions and in several solo shows. I even sold a few commissioned artwork pieces from my solo shows! I've done just about every art project you can think of, but my favorite art activities are drawing, painting, and photography. My photography has been featured in two publications this year!
As an artist and designer, I can teach you tips and tricks you might now know about and how you can combined art and design into one project! I do that all the time!
Plus, I've run my own design studio for years, so I have a good idea of what it takes to operate your own business. I'm going to be teaching you how to start either your own Photography or Design business so you can make the same mistakes adults are still making!
Now you're probably wondering about the hair care...
I'm not licensed in hair care, but you only need a license to touch someone else's hair which I learned from my hair dresser, and I don't do.
But...as for someone that's had wavy hair all my life, I know A LOT about taking care of it that I wrote a book about it?!?!?
That's right! I'm an unpublished (I'm working with my publisher on a release date right now) author/illustrator for a new kid's picture book series called...The Frizz Girls! staring me and a few new characters I've created to teach young girls (and boys too!) like yourself to learn how to love and care for your curly or wavy hair.
My goal is to help you love, appreciate and take care of your curly or wavy hair the right way since more and more companies are launching new products geared towards our hair. And yes, I'm familiar with 4a hair and up, and have some great product suggestions to keep your curls, coils and kinky styles beautiful and healthy. Whatever question I can't answer, I'll do the research and find you the answers as the curly/wavy hair care industry is blowing up and most hair stylists aren't trained in curly/wavy hair in school. Ask them.
Sooooo...I'll be offering a one-time class reading for my first two unpublished books, Stacy Learns to Love Her Wavy Hair, and You Can Too! and What the Frizz?!?! How to Take Care of Your Wavy and Curly Hair: Starring The Frizz Girls...Find Your Hair Type, and there might even be an opportunity to download a coloring page from my new coloring book after class!!! Yippy Skippy!
I haven't done a live group reading of my books before, so this will be a chance to learn about Stacy, how she's learned to take care of her wavy hair and a few tips for you if you're having trouble with your curly or wavy hair. I might even offer my hair class again since it was such a big hit!
So, who have I taught?
Well, I've taught kids as young as five-years-old art and some design classes, high school and college students, and adults the Adobe design programs in-person, online and in group classes. I've also helped lots of high school and college students with their design homework, learn coding in HTML and CSS, and assisted with putting together their portfolio.
I also tutor students privately with one-on-one lessons, so if you need help with your homework in art or design, let me know so we can get you on my calendar because it fills up fast.
Now you're probably wondering, what makes me qualified to teach you. Well, my education is pretty extensive and I've worked for numerous online, public and charter schools in my career.
My Education includes:
• Certification in Makeup Artistry, New Skills Academy, #B53048HV
• Certification of Teaching in Education, Elementary Art, Teach–Now Graduate School of Education (now known as Moreland Univesity), Washington, DC
• Bachelor of Arts, Graphic Design, Northern Kentucky University, President’s List, Scholar’s List
• Bachelor of Arts, Journalism, University of Kentucky
A few final thoughts about me.
I've been an artist all my life and have done so many art projects that the list is miles long, but a few things are drawing, painting, illustration and photography. I also have an addiction to completing complicated puzzles over 2,000 pieces, I'm obsessed with sunsets that I love to take pictures of them and then turn them into drawings or paintings, and chocolate makes everything better.
I look forward to meeting and teaching you here on Outschool!
Stacy :-)
P.S. In my classes, you can call me Ms. Stacy.
