Class Experience

In this ongoing class, learners will practice common spelling patterns beyond CVC short vowel sounds.
Our class will begin with learners sharing good news! This give all learners to connect with one another and become comfortable sharing with the group. We will then practice a new set of sight words each week. We will do this through the use of flash cards and writing practice. We will then discuss a new phonics pattern each week. This will include short vowels, multisyllabic words, long vowels, prefixes and suffixes, and glued sounds. These lessons are a great next step for learners who feel comfortable with short vowel sounds and are ready for new words and decoding strategies! Our class will finish with a game that will help learners practice the skills from class.

Learners will need a prior knowledge of letters, sounds, and short vowel sounds. We will work through all words together!
I look forward to seeing you in class!

I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Penn State University and my Masters in Elementary Eduction from Millersville. Since then, I have loved teaching young learners! I also have a minor in Hearing and Deafness Studies, which I incorporate into my lessons through the use of American Sign Language.
I believe all students can grow and become confident learners! I believe in creating content rich lessons using common core standards, all while making it fun! This all is made possible through a positive classroom environment.

I am a teacher, but I'm also mom to two little girls. Since becoming a mom, I am even more passionate about my role as an educator. I know the heart moms have to see their children succeed!
