Class Experience

In this multi-day class, we will practice the strategies to solve a 3x3 Rubik's cube. We will learn the patterns to solving the different layers by practicing and gaining muscle memory for each layer. We will learn how to spin the Rubik's cube and how to name each pattern and ways to turn the cube. This class will be 10 weeks long in order to help with problem solving and practicing with a teacher's help. Each class will review the basics and vocabulary for solving the cube and then have time to practice using the strategies. You do not need any experience solving a Rubik's cube. Learners will need to have the fine motor control to manipulate the cube in order to complete the patterns. This course will move quickly so outside practice is recommended. Youtube videos will be posted each week with a review of the move and a preview of the move coming up. Class sizes will be small so that students get optimal support to troubleshoot the moves on the cube.

Each week will focus on a specific move for a specific layer. Some layers require multiple moves to complete the layer.

Week 1: Overview and how to orient the cube-preview of move 1
Week 2: Solving the white cross
Week 3: Solving the white corners
Week 4: Review of solving the white layer
Week 5: Solving the second layer
Week 6: Solving the second layer
Week 7: Review of the second layer
Week 8: Solving the yellow corners- 2 moves
Week 9: Solving yellow face
Week 10: Finishing the cube

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Ms. Erin!

Flex options are available now!

I love all things social skills and emotional regulation! I have been a special education teacher for over 5 years primarily in the Madison, Wisconsin area. I believe that social skills are the most important part of learning and want to make that accessible to all learners! Students learn best from doing and practicing skills and there is no better way to learn social skills other than practicing them with others. I am also super passionate about social justice in my community and have taken the opportunity to join a local non-profit focused on racial justice issues, social justice, and making sustainable changes in a community. In my community, we still have a ways to go in terms of social justice and as an educator, I feel strongly about teaching kids all sides of a story.
In my personal life, I have a toddler running around my house along with a rescue cat and 2 dogs. We spend a lot of time outdoors and finding new adventures to take.
