Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In today's class students will learn to identify Root Words and the suffix "ing". We will learn when we are doubling the last consonant before adding "ing". At the beginning of our class students will demonstrate an action that is spelled with a short vowel sound (hop, run, skip, etc.) and their classmates will guess the word.
In our class students will receive instruction from me, play games with their classmates, answer individually and as a group. Students will have opportunity to interact with the teacher and with their classmates.
Students should be able to read words with a short vowel sound for this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
