I will demonstrate the process that I follow for designing unique characters and will complete the demonstration with a quick ink and watercolor illustration. Students will, initially, take part in the process by providing suggestions for key details about the character. They will be able to follow along based on the answers provided by the group in the generation of their own version of the character. A collaborative design experience. I will also issue simple tips for working with ink and watercolor as a mixed medium --or the student may choose to work in a single medium at their discretion. This class will be more about visual problem-solving and idea generation than fine art skills. All skill levels are welcome. My material demonstrations for ink and watercolor will be introductory.
Learning Goals
I will introduce the student to the basic creative concept design process that is employed in the entertainment industry.
They will be introduced to the underlying thinking that takes place throughout the creative process.
They will also be introduced to basic techniques of ink and watercolor.
