Class Experience
I will demonstrate the process that I follow for designing unique characters and will complete the demonstration with a quick ink and watercolor illustration. Students will, initially, take part in the process by providing suggestions for key details about the character. They will be able to follow along based on the answers provided by the group in the generation of their own version of the character. A collaborative design experience. I will also issue simple tips for working with ink and...
I will introduce the student to the basic creative concept design process that is employed in the entertainment industry. They will be introduced to the underlying thinking that takes place throughout the creative process. They will also be introduced to basic techniques of ink and watercolor.
As this is a on-time class there will be no homework to complete, though the student is encouraged to complete their design work after instruction has come to an end.
—- No.2 pencil —- Waterproof/ water-resistant India ink ( disposable pen/ brush pen— or dip pen and ink bottle). —- Student’s favorite watercolors. —- Watercolor paper— I use 140 lb cold-pressed watercolor for its versatility. 9x12 is sufficient, though I buy larger pads and cut them down. Easy to find in art supply/ craft stores or on-line. —- A rigid surface to tape your work down to. Ex—-Thick foam core or hard board (Masonite) work well. Or a tabletop. —- Masking tape —- kneadable eraser or other eraser that is gentle on paper.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
In the context of a demonstration, there will be no formal assessment.
