Class Experience
★★★Space is Limited! Read the Description Carefully and Enroll!★★★ Please note that this private assessment is intended for learners who are currently or have previously taken my , phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, or private classes. If your learner has not taken any of my classes, please send me a message before enrolling. In this class I will assess your learner's skills and provide you with feedback on how we can work together to help your learner meet their reading goals. The purpose of this assessment is to work with your learner one on one to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. I will then match learners with similar needs and schedules and suggest that we have a small group class. It is important to me that your learner is able to grow and improve their skills in my classes. With learners all over the world, it is difficult to have enough time to meet everyone's needs. I would like to take a couple of months this summer to assess the learners I have been working with, so we can work together to plan for the upcoming year. An adult should be nearby to assist with any technical difficulties the learner has, however, it is very important that they do not provide the learner with answers or help to the assessment. Learners will be assessed on phonemic awareness, word identification, decoding, and listening and reading comprehension. Learners will need to be able to clearly see the screen of their device. I highly suggest taking the class on a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer as the screen on the phone may be too small for them to read. What are the benefits of this private assessment? 1. Private classes are a wonderful option because they ensure that your learner is getting exactly what they need, but they can be costly for many families. Group classes are great because they allow you learner access to the skills at a more affordable price, however when there are many students at different levels it can be frustratingly too easy or too difficult for some. Matching your learner with other learners that are at a very similar level will help ensure your learner is getting the practice they need while lowing the cost of your classes. 2. Although I cannot guarantee our schedules will match, learners that take this assessment will be given top priority while I'm creating my schedule for the upcoming year. 3. Whether you decide to enroll in my other classes, or not, you will be provided with some tips of things you can do to help your learner improve their reading. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! ***Important! Please Read!*** After you enroll, you will receive a message with questions about your learner and their schedule. Please answer the questions ASAP. The questions must be answered 48 hours before the assessment or your learner will be withdrawn from the time slot. Questions I will need you to answer upon enrollment: 1. Tell me about your learner. What is their experience with reading? What are your concerns about their reading skills? Is English their first language? Are any other languages spoken in the home? What is their personality like? Are they talkative, shy, easily frustrated, etc.? Do they enjoy learning with others or alone? Any other details I should know about them. 2. Tell me about your schedule. What time zone are you in? What days and times are best for you to meet? How long do you prefer classes...25 minutes, 45 minutes, or 55 minutes? How many days a week would you like to have class? How much are you willing and able to practice with your learner outside of class? Are there any dates that you know would be off limits - (example we don't take classes over the summer, or we will be traveling for Christmas). 3. Tell me about your budget. Do you prefer to pay more for smaller/private classes where your learner gets more attention in the class or do you prefer larger less expensive classes with activities provide for you to practice with your learner? 4. Is there anything else you would like to share with me or ask me before our class?

Bachelor's Degree in Education from State University of New York at Fredonia
Hi there! My name is Ms. Amanda and I am an experienced online teacher with a background in childhood education and Spanish. After graduating from the State University of New York at Fredonia, I taught first grade in Arizona for two years before moving to North Carolina to open a business with my husband. In North Carolina, I taught GED and ESL classes at a community college and first grade for two more years.
Despite my love for teaching in the traditional classroom setting, once my son was born, I decided to stay home and pursue my passion for teaching online. Since then, I have been staying at home with my two young children while teaching online classes with OutSchool and teaching ESL classes to children in China. I also worked as a content producer for a children's literacy app.
I have a passion for helping children learn how to read, which is a crucial foundation for lifelong learning. As an educator, I believe in instilling a growth mindset in my students, where they are encouraged to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes, and ultimately reach their full potential. I look forward to working with your child to help them develop their skills and build their confidence in the classroom and beyond.
