Class Experience

1. Students will learn about the Earth, it's layers, orbit, and axis.
2. Students will learn about gravity and what causes it.
3. Students will learn about magnetism and how it affects objects.
4. Students will explore surface tension and what causes it.
I have over 20 years teaching experience and have spent the last 5 years teaching science at a private academy.
No homework except to gather materials for the next class.
Students will need paper and pencil every week in addition to the materials for each week below: week 1: 5 play doughs including red, yellow, orange, blue, and green. week 2: An extra pencil and 1 small ball of blue playdough and a large ball of yellow playdough. week 3: 2 round balls, one much larger than the other. For example a ping pong or golf ball and a soccer ball or basketball. week 4: A ruler, a magnet, some string, tape and a paper clip, and two cups. (I purchased this magnet kit for under $10 on Amazon if you don't have magnets) copy and paste this link; week 5: 2 strong magnets, a paper clip, a bowl of water wider than the paper clip when unfolded, scissors, an index card or card stock, and a marker. Week 6: A medicine dropper (free at any pharmacy), a penny, and a cup of water Week 7: Bowl of water, pepper, Q-tip, and dawn dish soap Week 8: bowl of milk, food coloring in a few colors, dawn dish soap
Learners will be assessed informally through class discussions and activities
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents will need to assist student in gathering materials before class and some students may need help conducting their experiments.
