(See below for details regarding setting up a time to meet privately with your teacher.)

In this class learners continue to write different types of paragraphs, such as informative, narrative, compare/contrast, and persuasive. They learn how to structure a paragraph, use appropriate vocabulary and grammar, use transition words, and convey their ideas effectively.

**Your learner does NOT need to complete part 1 of this class in order to participate in part 2.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Here is what one Outschool parent had to say about her learner's progress after this class: "The class sessions with Ms. Stephanie have really helped a ton. It is so noticeable that it is kind of crazy! I took a look at what my son was able to write by himself for homework after this class and was blown away by his improvement."

๐Ÿ“ฃThis class has a maximum of 6 learners so the teacher can provide extensive, specific, and individualized feedback after EVERY class to EVERY learner.

Paragraph writing is an essential skill that every student must learn. After learning how to construct sentences, learners must develop the skills necessary to write a paragraph, and then transfer those skills into writing multi-paragraph essays.

Week 1: Draft Informational Paragraph
Students will brainstorm topics that they know about and will use the hamburger method to write a topic sentence, 3 supporting details, and conclusion in graphic organizer.

Week 2: Write Informational Paragraph
Students will learn how to write a paragraph, add in transition words, revise/edit their paragraph, and publish/share informational paragraphs.

Week 3: Draft Opinion Paragraph
Students will learn about opinion writing. Then they will choose a persuasive writing prompt, develop their Opinion (thesis), reasons, example, and restate their opinion (conclusion) using the OREO method.

Week 4: Write Opinion Paragraph
Students will write their opinion paragraph, add in transition words, revise/edit their paragraph, and then publish/share opinion paragraphs.

Week 5: Draft Compare/Contrast Paragraph
Students will read and learn about compare/contrast paragraphs. They will decide on two topics to compare/contrast. They will begin filling out their venn diagram with similarities and differences of their two topics.

Week 6: Write Compare/Contrast Paragraph
Students will write their compare/contrast paragraph, add in specific transition words, revise/edit, and then publish/share paragraphs!

Week 7: Draft Short Story Realistic Narrative
Students will learn what narrative writing is and the elements in narrative writing. They will then fill out their graphic organizer "Story Map" with characters, setting, important events, problem, and solution.

Week 8: Write Short Story Realistic Narrative
Students will write their narrative, learn when to start new paragraphs, how to add in dialogue, and write their final copy.

We are proud to offer your learner private, live, individualized feedback from their teacher on their writing! Here are the details:
๐Ÿ‘‰Learners may meet with the teacher one time for each piece of writing.
๐Ÿ‘‰The feedback session is limited to 10 minutes.
๐Ÿ‘‰The parent or learner should message the teacher to schedule the session.
๐Ÿ‘‰The session can only take place 10 minutes before or 10 minutes after any scheduled class session.
๐Ÿ‘‰Sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
๐Ÿ‘‰After a date and time are agreed upon, the teacher and the learner will join the regular scheduled class session for that day/time 10 minutes early or stay 10 minutes after class for their conference.
