Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Are you ready for a fun review of your multiplication facts with some hands-on learning? In this flexible class we will review the facts from 0-12 as we look at how they interact in repeated addition and arrays. We will go over a trick to memorize and solve each fact. Then, we will use common items found in the real word to create multiplication arrays to solidify the learning. We will also review the correct vocabulary used in multiplication problems including factor, product, commutative property. Come and join me this fun 4 week course! Your students will walk away with the facts memorized and a greater understanding of what multiplication is and how to use it in their daily life.

In each class we will do a quick review of the previously memorized facts, learn techniques for new facts and complete homework together. Students will need to bring the array sheet to class each day for practice as well as the different hands-on materials for each class (see the schedule below).

In this flexible style class, students will get to watch the instructional video with a workbook to follow along with to make learning more interactive without being together. Throughout the week I will post challenges to have the students show me a concept to check for understanding. I will also post review games and quizzes as an assessment to make sure everyone is understanding the concepts being taught. Although we do not meet live in this class, there will be a lot of discussion in the classroom and activities to engage each learner.

As a former, public elementary school teacher, I take great pride in making sure that every students walks away successful with the daily objective. Informal assessments will take place throughout each lesson to make sure every student understands the material before the end of class.

Here is the outline of the class syllabus:
Class 1 - What is Multiplication? 0's, 1's, 10's, 11's Facts - Bring 2 pieces of paper
