Class Experience

I taught high school math in a public-school setting for 6 years before my eldest was born. Since then I have been staying home with my kids, which I love, but I haven't given up teaching. My favorite thing has always been to work with small groups of students or one-on-one so that I can really get to know the student, their needs, and their learning style. To that end, I have tutored many students in many different classes, including middle school pre-algebra, high school ACT/SAT prep, and college Pre-calculus.

The live online format of this class means your student will get to ask questions and receive specific feedback designed to help them succeed. With so many free video math resources available online, you may be wondering if a "live" class is really worth it. Many of the free resources are wonderful and can be helpful, but having an experienced teacher to explain the concepts, answer questions, and offer immediate feedback is truly invaluable. If your student struggles with math or has low confidence in their math ability, this class is a great format for them! Even if your student excels in math, the personal interaction available through the live classes is a great way for them to continue on their math journey!

Parents have said:
"She is patient and easy to understand. She makes the kids feel relaxed during the lesson and makes sure they understand difficult concepts." -Mark

"Excellence. Great tutor helping my daughter. Explains everything in a way where she understands." -Daniel

"My son felt relieved after the first lesson! She explains things in a clear way and is very aware of the student's needs and strengths. I highly recommend Rachel." -Debbie
Weekly homework will be assigned and timely feedback given.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will also be expected to complete a quiz each week to assess mastery of the skills covered.

A grade will be given at the end of the class if requested. Grades will be calculated based on 20% for homework and 80% for quizzes.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

I love math! I love to teach math, including Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and even Pre-calculus. To me, math is fun, but I know not everyone feels that way. I love to make accessible and understandable to all types of learners. I have experience...
