Welcome Super Heroes, I hope you're ready for a great big adventure. Join teacher Mel and your new friends as we set off on an adventure where we'll learn all about multiplication, division, patterns, financial literacy, probabilities, geometry and more! This class is designed to introduce and familiarize students with topics commonly found in grades 3 and 4 curriculums. We'll explore these topics in an interactive environment incorporating some of our favourite super heroes. Students will work together to solve math problems in a team environment This class is perfect for those that loved Math Explorers Club for World Travellers, or any young learners that might otherwise find their math classes boring or scary. I make math fun and enjoyable for all students by encouraging active participation from each learner. If students are not yet confident doing adding and subtracting within 1,000 they may prefer Math Explorers Club for World Travellers where we build those skills in order to tackle the bigger problems in this class. As this is an ongoing class we always welcome new learners. The class curriculum will be learner directed and will be flexible to meet the needs of enrolled students. Please reach out if you have any questions. • During the month of February 2024 students will be be practicing multi-digit multiplication, simple division and will begin to learn the steps necessary for long division. We will also be focusing on mental math skills and divisibility rules. • February 20th, 2024: Super heroes will play a fun game practicing their simple division facts. Learners will be encouraged to use strategies such as skip counting and times tables facts to help them determine the super hero word! • February 22nd, 2024: Super heroes will be introduced to long division and will be reintroduced to divisibility rules. Students will practice applying divisibility rules in a fun and interactive "find the villain" activity. • February 27th, 2024: Super heroes will continue to focus on divisibility rules and use these tools to complete some long division problems. • February 29th, 2024: Super heroes will review their times tables, simple division facts, rounding and divisibility rules in a fun and exciting team challenge!
